Volume Profiles

Volume Profiles

Volume Profiles are a powerful tool in Technical Analysis used to understand market activity at specific price levels. Unlike traditional candlestick charts which focus on price and time, Volume Profiles highlight *how much* trading volume occurred at each price level over a specified period. This provides insight into areas of potential Support and Resistance, Breakout points, and overall market sentiment. This article will provide a comprehensive beginner's guide to understanding and utilizing Volume Profiles in Crypto Futures trading.

What is a Volume Profile?

At its core, a Volume Profile displays a histogram alongside a price chart. This histogram isn't representing price movement; instead, it represents the total volume traded at each price level. The x-axis represents price, and the y-axis represents volume. The longer the horizontal bar at a specific price, the more volume was traded at that level. This is often visualized using a Point of Control (POC), Value Area High (VAH), and Value Area Low (VAL).
