Digital printing

Digital Printing

Digital printing is a printing process that prints directly from a digital image, bypassing the need for plate creation, which is essential in traditional methods like Offset printing. It's a relatively recent development in Printing technology, becoming commercially viable in the late 20th century. It's become increasingly prevalent due to its speed, cost-effectiveness for short runs, and ability to offer Variable data printing.

How Digital Printing Works

Unlike traditional methods, digital printing doesn’t rely on physical carriers for the image. Instead, the image exists as a digital file – typically a PDF, JPEG, or TIFF – and is sent directly to the printer. The printer then uses various technologies to deposit ink or toner onto the printing medium (paper, vinyl, fabric, etc.). Several core technologies drive digital printing, including:

Printing, Offset printing, Inkjet printer, Laser printer, Variable data printing, PDF, JPEG, TIFF, Color management, Graphic design, Prepress, Postpress, Printing press, Coating (printing), Paper, Ink, Toner, Wide-format printer, 3D printing, Substrate, Marketing, Advertising, Publishing, Packaging, Textile printing, Supply chain management, Price elasticity, Market segmentation.
